Mixing It Up - Safe & Fun

"This year myself along with my staff and student council have come up with ideas to make lunch more  organized. We decided that CF Fitness intramural type activities everyday offered at lunch recess would be a great way for students to stay active. Every day we change the activity and the students are having a blast.  So far we have done football, soccer, capture the flag, obstacle courses, ping pong, and track & field games. I picked these activities because most students seem to be interested in getting  involved. The goal for this play is to make sure students are staying active whenever possible and not just standing around. At our school the students were pretty active at recess to start with, but it is now more organized making it more safe.


The students look forward to the daily activities and they love being part of a team or partnership. It is easy to see the excitement the kids feel when it is their turn to  be part of the activity and they love learning about sports they have never tried. The students in our  wellness committee helped to decide the activities we would use during lunch. They also help set up equipment and get things ready on a daily basis."
